ERASMUS MUNDUS PROGRAMME

WHAT IS ERASMUS MUNDUS?

Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with Third-Countries.

Erasmus Mundus objectives:

  • Enhance the quality of European HE through international co-operation
  • Improve the development of human resources
  • Promote dialogue and understanding between peoples and cultures
  • Promote Europe as a centre of excellence in learning around the world

 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

1. Higher education institutions and research centres

2. Individual applicants: bachelor, master, doctorate, post-doctorate students, Higher Education staff

3. Other organizations active in the field of education and research

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Erasmus Mundus is implemented through of the following actions:

ACTION 1: Erasmus Mundus joint programmes of outstanding quality at masters (Action 1 A) and doctoral (Action 1 B) levels including scholarships/fellowships to participate in these programmes. For scholarships/fellowships within Action 1 individuals from all over the world can apply. For 2012/13 academic year 131 Masters and 34 Doctorates offering scholarships. The list of joint programmes is updated on a regular basis every year.

ACTION 2: Erasmus Mundus partnerships with non-European higher education instituionas, including scholarships, are selected every year.

ACTION 3: Promotion of excellence and attractiveness of European higher education worldwide.

HOW DOES IT WORKS?

The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) which is responsible for the implementation of the Erasmus Mundus Programme, informs potential applicants about funding opportunities through a programme guide and regular calls for proposals published on the Erasmus Mundus website: http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus_mundus/index_en.php

Within Action 1 individual applicants should apply for scholarship/fellowship directly to the selected Erasmus Mundus universities. Application deadline, requirements and procedure are available at the joint programmes websites.

Within Action 2 institutions should submit proposals in accordance with the programme guide and calls.
